Religion and grief
how does alien stage comment on human nature?
Sua's form of love was her sacrifice, and Mizi's form of love was letting Sua sacrifice herself, becuase she knew that Sua would destroy herself if Mizi ever died, she knew that Sua valued her over her own life . She would rather let Sua die happy than live miserable. THEY ARE SO DOOMED. IT WOULD HAVE NEVER WORKED THE SAME WAY IF MIZI DIED IN THE FIRST EPISODE THIS IS SICKENING and they will NEVER break the cycle, Jacob was the first leader of the rebellion and he was replaced by hyuna, the fresh new face, who got close also failed to break the system. and then Mizi the new girl in the rebellion got the closest EVER to changing the treatment of humans but her ultimate fate was to become a sensationalist money making machine. they made a MUSEUM after her suffering. the great tragedy of the 7th round. humans can try try try as they might to create an impact but ultimately the power of capitalism and society will break us down. the cycle can never end with one person
BECAUSE THEYVE GROWN UP IN ISOLATIONNN. theyve never been taught how to love, so they love hard, hard enough to hurt eachother, hard enough to see eachother as their salvations. they dont know how to love eachother without destroying eachother in the proccess. i love all the religious imagery in alien stage too, the fact that they are the only humans there, and how humans are naturally looking for purpose and devotion. there is no god in a loveless world yet they seem to find devotion in each other, feverish and destructive devotion. the final episode has quite a few images that remind me of rebirth and faith. there was the marble sculptures. the moth in the egg, and the lambs kind of remind me of 2 headed lambs, a freak of nature, yet a symbol of duality. that of which is divine and that of which is human. Anakt garden is suppposed to resemble heaven in the way its so calm and bright yet the innocent children that live in Anakt garden are fated for grief and the imperfections inherent to human kind Like Mizi said "humans are the root of all this pain" They are the imperfections living in a 'perfect' world. of divinity and aliens. They are entertaining because they experience human emotions to the nth degree. theyre immature. and theyre human. thats what makes alien stage, alien stage.
A good example of that is ivan, even though im significantly less excited about ivantill, because of the fandom :(((, but ivan is a good example of someone who was popular with the aliens because of his intensity, he never shows his emotion but you can see it in his expression, that deep overwhelming emotion. he's an enigma, a bomb ready to explode. A lot of people will mention that canonically ivan will only cry when he feels loved. because he's been so emotionally held back by living in this environment where he isnt taught how to healthily express himself. The crystal heart scene in Karma show just how desperately he wants to express himself to the point of hurt. his form of love is forceful and harmful. its an intense and angry kind of love, something he may feel can never be accepted.
So then where does religion come in?
